Best Bird of the Year

Spurred on by 10,000 Birds, I have chosen two lesser yellowlegs as my best bird of the year. I saw them at Long Beach Conservation Area on Lake Erie in August. The birds were migrating from the northwest to the far south for winter. This is my best picture of one of them.

Best music of 2010

Here is the music I've enjoyed most this year. I could probably still make some changes, but it's a good record of what I liked to listen to at home and on the road, hummed in my head, and played on Swoon.

Since a typical hour of Swoon is usually 12 tracks long, I went with top 12s for this year's lists. No numbers or rankings, they're all good. As usual, some tracks could easily be placed in a different genre, but that's just the way modern music is, there are plenty of hybrids (and there should be).

Many of these tracks will be featured in January on Swoon, as I recap the year.
